(a) The use of horses, mules, and burros is allowed in all state parks on the Kenai Peninsula with the exception of (1) Nilnunqua State Historic Site; (2) campgrounds, swim beaches, and picnic areas; (3) officially designated and marked hiking trails; and (4) areas above timberline. (b) The use of horses is subject to the following conditions: (1) groups using 10 or more animals must obtain authorization from the director under 11 AAC 18.010 before entering a park; (2) tethering horses, mules, and burros within 100 feet of fresh water is prohibited; (3) loose herding of animals is prohibited.
