Section 12.06.450. Professional boxing ring requirements.

(a) A boxing ring used for a professional contest must be at least 16 feet square and not more than 24 feet square within the ropes. (b) The ring floor must (1) extend at least 18 inches beyond the ropes; (2) be padded with matting or other soft material; (3) be padded beyond the ring ropes and over the edge of the platform; and (4) be covered with canvas, duck or similar material tightly stretched and laced to the ring platform. (c) The ring posts must (1) be made of metal not more than three inches in diameter; (2) extend from the floor of the building to a height of 58 inches above the ring floor; (3) be padded; and (4) be at least 18 inches from the ring ropes. (d) There must be three or four ring ropes, at least one inch in diameter and wrapped in soft material. The lowest rope must be 18 inches above the ring floor. (e) The ring platform must not be more than five feet above the floor of the building and must have suitable steps for the safe use of contestants and ring officials.
