(a) Right Turns. Except as provided in (c) of this section, both the approach for a right turn, and a right turn, must be made as close as practicable to the right-hand curb or edge of the roadway. (b) Left Turns. (1) The driver of a vehicle intending to turn left shall approach and make the turn from the extreme left-hand lane lawfully available to traffic moving in the direction of travel of the vehicle. Unless conditions prevail which necessitate other action to assure safety, a vehicle turning to the left must proceed into the extreme left-hand lane lawfully available to traffic moving in the same direction as the vehicle on the roadway being entered. (2) Where a special lane for making left turns by drivers proceeding in opposite directions has been indicated by official traffic-control devices a (A) left turn may not be made from any other lane; (B) vehicle may not be driven in the lane except when preparing for or making a left turn from or into a roadway or when preparing for or making a U-turn when permitted by law. (c) When the Department of Transportation and Public Facilities or a municipality, in their respective jurisdictions, places an official traffic-control device within or adjacent to an intersection which requires that a different course from that specified in this section be traveled by a vehicle turning at an intersection, no driver may turn a vehicle at an intersection other than as directed by the device.
