(a) A commercial motor vehicle must be driven as nearly as practicable within a single lane, and may not be moved from that lane until the driver has first determined that the movement can be made safely. (b) Upon a roadway that is divided into three lanes and provides for two-way movement of traffic, a commercial motor vehicle may not be driven in the center lane, except (1) when overtaking and passing another vehicle traveling in the same direction when the center lane is clear of traffic for a safe distance; (2) in preparation for making or completing a left turn; or (3) when the center lane is allocated exclusively to traffic moving in the direction that the vehicle is proceeding.
