Section 13.09.027. Duration of registration.

  • 	(a)  In determining the duration of an offender's duty to register under AS 12.63.020, the department will review  
    		(1) the offender's criminal history records;  
    		(2) information the department has obtained about the offender under AS 18.65.087(a);  
    		(3) convictions for offenses that are a violation of the law of another jurisdiction to determine if the convictions are for offenses similar to those requiring registration under AS 12.63.  
    	(b)  If a court judgment misinforms or fails to inform an offender of the duration of the offender's duty to register, the department's determination under (a) of this section takes precedence. The department will notify the offender in writing of the correct registration period.  
    	(c)  Twelve months will be added to the duration of an offender's duty to register under AS 12.63.020(a)(2) for each calendar year during which the offender, for a total of 30 or more days, either fails to comply with AS 12.63  or is incarcerated. The department will notify the offender in writing of any change to the duration of the offender's duty to register made under this subsection.
