(a) In buildings and rooms in a facility subject to this chapter (1) floors, walls, and ceilings must be covered with smooth, durable, nonabsorbent, easily cleanable material, unless otherwise provided in this chapter; (2) the intersections between walls and floors must be sealed or coved; (3) ventilation by natural or mechanical means must be provided to keep air fresh and to prevent the accumulation of excessive heat, steam, condensation, vapors, smoke, and fumes; (4) mechanical ventilation systems must be used where specifically required by this chapter; (5) ventilation systems may not produce an unsightly or harmful discharge; and (6) the premises must be kept clean, in good repair, and free of roaches, flies, rodents and other vermin, and of conditions which are likely to attract or harbor them. (b) The grounds surrounding a facility subject to this chapter must be well drained and free from roaches, flies, rodents, and other vermin and of conditions which are likely to attract or harbor them.
