Section 20.17.030. Application for agent's permit.

  • 	(a)  At least 90 days before the commission meeting at which a person wishes the person's application for an agent's permit to be considered, a person desiring to function as an agent in the state must apply to the commission for an agent's permit. The person must submit the application on forms provided by the commission.  
    	(b)  Upon receipt of the completed application, accompanying documents, appropriate fees, and evidence of bonding, the commission will review the materials and grant or deny an agent's permit to the applicant. The commission will notify the applicant in writing of its decision.  
    	(c)  An agent's permit is nontransferable and is issued for terms of between six months and two years. However, under no circumstances will the agent's permit remain valid beyond the expiration date of the authorization to operate for the institution which the agent represents if such authorization is required.  
    	(d)  For purposes of this section, an agent who is a bona fide employee of a postsecondary educational institution authorized to operate in this state or exempted from authorization, and who acts as an agent only in the scope of the agent's employment with the postsecondary educational institution, is exempt from the agent permit requirement of this section.
