(a) A person employed to replace a teacher who district authorities know will be absent for more than 20 days in which the school is in session must possess a valid teacher's certificate. (b) A person employed to replace a teacher who district authorities know will be absent for the remainder of the school term must be employed under the requirements imposed by this chapter if more than 20 in-session days remain in the term.
