(a) In AS 40.21 and this chapter, "record" (1) has the meaning given in AS 40.21.150; (2) includes computer-readable tape, discs, or other media. (b) In this chapter, unless the context otherwise requires, (1) "agency" or "state agency" has the meaning given in AS 40.21.150; (2) "electronic record" means any information that is recorded in machine-readable form; (3) "microform" means any form of record, usually film, that contains microimages; (4) "optical disk" (A) means a noncontact, random-access disk tracked by optical laser beams used for mass storage and retrieval of digitized text and graphics; (B) includes optical digital disks and optical digital data disks; types of optical disks include WORM (write once read many), CD-ROM (compact disk - read only memory), and CP-I (compact disk - interactive); (5) "permanent record" means a noncurrent record of an organization that has continuing legal, administrative, or historical value to the state sufficient to warrant the record's continued preservation by the state archivist and that has been accepted for deposit in the state archivist's custody; (6) "records center" has the meaning given in AS 40.21.150; (7) "state archives" means the Alaska State Archives established in AS 40.21.020.
