(a) Eulachon smelt (thaleichthys pacificus) may be taken only in the fresh waters of the Copper River drainage below Miles Lake and only under the conditions of a permit issued by the commissioner or the commissioner's designee. (b) The permit required in (a) of this section shall include reporting requirements and any other conditions determined necessary by the commissioner for conservation and management purposes. (c) Eulachon smelt may be taken from May 1 through June 15. (d) Eulachon smelt may be taken only with dip nets. (e) No more than 300 tons of eulachon smelt may be taken annually.
