(a) Herring may be taken only by purse seines. (b) A herring fishing vessel may operate or assist in operating only one legal limit of herring fishing gear in the aggregate. (c) Unhung gear sufficient for mending purposes may be carried aboard fishing vessels. (d) Herring fishing nets shall be measured, either wet or dry, by determining the maximum length of cork line when the net is fully extended with traction applied at one end only. (e) The interim-use or entry permit holder is responsible for operation of the net. (f) The use of leads with any net gear used for commercial herring fishing is prohibited during the herring sac roe season.
