(a) Male Tanner crab may be taken only from 12:00 noon on the date with the smallest Juneau tidal range between February 10 and February 17, as announced by emergency order, through May 1. (b) A season opening may be delayed if the National Weather Service forecast for the major fishing areas in the Southeast Region contains gale force wind warnings of 35 knots and higher on the 4:00 a.m. forecast for the day preceding the start date and the following day, in which case the season opening in all sections of Registration Area A eligible for a season opening will be delayed 24 hours and announcement of this delay will be issued 24 hours before the start of the fishery. If after the initial delay gale warnings continue regionwide, the season opening in all eligible sections may be delayed an additional 24 hours. A season opening delay may continue on a rolling 24-hour basis. For the purposes of this subsection, the corresponding National Weather Service forecast areas considered within the Southeast Region are as follows: (1) Southern Lynn Canal; (2) Northern Chatham Strait; (3) Stephens Passage; (4) Frederick Sound.
