Section 5.61.118. Special provisions for the seasons, bag, possession, and size limits, and methods and means for Unit 4 of the Susitna River Drainage Area.

  • Unless otherwise specified by an emergency order issued under AS 16.05.060, the following are localized additions and exceptions to the general seasons, bag, possession, and size limits, and methods and means specified in 5 AAC 61.110 for Unit 4 of the Susitna River Drainage Area:  
    		(1) from September 1 - July 13, in all flowing waters, only unbaited, artificial lures may be used;  
    		(2) from May 15 - July 13, in waters open to sport fishing for king salmon, fishing is not allowed from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m.;  
    		(3) the bag and possession limit for salmon, other than king salmon, is three fish per day with six in possession;  
    		(4) the bag and possession limit for king salmon 20 inches or greater in length is one per day and two in possession; once a person has retained a king salmon 20 inches or greater in length, a person may not sport fish for king salmon within a one-mile radius of the confluence of the Talchulitna River and the Susitna River for the remainder of that day;  
    		(5) in the Canyon Creek drainage,  
    			(A) in the flowing waters, only one unbaited, single-hook, artificial lure may be used;  
    			(B) rainbow/steelhead trout may not be retained or possessed; rainbow/steelhead trout caught must be released immediately and returned to the water unharmed;  
    		(6) in the Fish Lake Creek drainage,  
    			(A) after taking a king salmon 20 inches or greater in length, a person may not sport fish for king salmon on that same day;  
    			(B) upstream of the first lake, sport fishing for salmon is allowed only from January 1 - July 13;  
    		(7) in the Lake Creek drainage,  
    			(A) from August 16 - May 14, from an ADF&G regulatory marker located approximately 100 yards upstream of its mouth to an ADF&G regulatory marker located approximately one-quarter mile upstream of Bulchitna Lake, only one unbaited, single-hook, artificial lure may be used; in that same area from May 15 - July 13, only unbaited, artificial lures may be used;  
    			(B) upstream from an ADF&G regulatory marker located approximately one-quarter mile upstream of Bulchitna Lake only one unbaited, single-hook, artificial lure may be used;  
    			(C) after taking and retaining a king salmon 20 inches or greater in length, a person may not sport fish for king salmon on that same day;  
    			(D) from August 16 - June 14, from an ADF&G regulatory marker located approximately 100 yards upstream of its mouth to an ADF&G regulatory marker located approximately one-quarter mile upstream of Bulchitna Lake, rainbow/steelhead trout may not be retained; rainbow/steelhead trout caught must be released immediately, and returned to the water unharmed;  
    			(E) from June 15 - August 15, from an ADF&G regulatory marker located approximately 100 yards upstream of its mouth to an ADF&G regulatory marker located approximately one-quarter mile upstream of Bulchitna Lake, the rainbow/steelhead trout bag and possession limit is two fish of which only one fish may be 20 inches or greater in length;  
    			(F) upstream of an ADF&G regulatory marker located approximately one-quarter mile upstream from Bulchitna Lake, rainbow/steelhead trout may not be retained or possessed; rainbow/steelhead trout caught must be released immediately and returned to the water unharmed;  
    		(8) in the Peters Creek drainage upstream of an ADF&G regulatory marker located approximately one mile upstream of its confluence with the Kahiltna River sport fishing is closed for king salmon;  
    		(9) the Talchulitna River drainage and all waters within a three-quarter mile radius of its confluence with the Skwentna River,  
    			(A) in flowing waters only one unbaited, single-hook, artificial lure may be used;  
    			(B) rainbow/steelhead trout may not be retained or possessed; rainbow/steelhead trout caught must be released immediately and returned to the water unharmed;  
    		(10) in Whiskey, Hewitt, Donkey, No Name (Cabin), and One Stone Lakes, and the flowing waters of Indian Creek, five lines may be used to fish for northern pike through the ice; allowable gear is limited to standard ice fishing gear as specified in 5 AAC 61.110(8)(B); fishing gear must be closely attended as specified in 5 AAC 75.033; all other species of fish caught must be released immediately.
