A burial-transit permit may be issued by a local registrar for the disposition of a fetus with a gestation period of less than 20 weeks, with or without the filing of a fetal death certificate; provided all other requirements have been met. For movement out of the state; for any shipment by common carrier; or for burial or other disposition in any public or other organized burial ground, vault, or crematory, a burial-transit permit shall be a prerequisite in cases of a fetus, irrespective of the length of gestation. All additional requirements pertaining to any dead body must also be fulfilled in such cases.
