(a) The ionizing radiation sources described in AS 18.60.525(b) - (e) are exempt from the requirements of this chapter. (b) In addition to the ionizing radiation sources described in (a) of this section, the following sources of ionizing radiation are exempt from the requirements of this chapter: (1) source material in a chemical mixture, compound, solution, or alloy in which the source material is by weight less than 0.05 percent of the mixture, compound, solution, or alloy; (2) unrefined and unprocessed ore containing source material; (3) repealed 7/1/2015; (4) hands or dials of timepieces and other instruments containing luminous radioactive material; (5) a domestic television receiver, if the dose rate at five centimeters from any outer surface is less than 0.5 millirem per hour; (6) electrical equipment, except a domestic television receiver, that emits radiation incidental to the equipment's operation for other purposes, if the dose rate to the whole body at the point of nearest approach to the equipment when any external shielding is removed does not exceed 0.5 rem per year; (7) a disabled ionizing radiation machine while in storage or transit; and (8) radioactive material subject to effective registration requirements and control by the United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission under regulations established under 42 U.S.C. and P.L. 109-58 (Energy Policy Act of 2005).
