(a) The department shall protect the privacy of an individual subject to a medical order or court order issued under the authority of AS 18.15.375 and 18.15.385 to the maximum extent possible consistent with this chapter. (b) A public health agent shall reveal only the minimum information necessary to prevent the spread of a contagious or possibly contagious disease when an individual or group of individuals subject to isolation or quarantine chooses confinement in a home or homes. (c) When isolation or quarantine includes confinement to public premises, the department shall assure that confidential information is revealed only to those individuals who have a direct role in the management of the area of confinement and only to the extent necessary for the reasonable management of the public premises to prevent the spread of a contagious disease. (d) A determination issued by the department following an informal review of a medical order issued under AS 18.15.375 or an isolation or quarantine order issued under AS 18.15.385 is confidential and may only be released as a public document (1) upon written request of the individual who is the subject of the determination; or (2) if the determination can be redacted so that it contains no identifiable health information.
