In 13 AAC 20.005 - 13 AAC 20.035, unless the context requires otherwise (1) "commissioner" means the commissioner of public safety; (2) "department" means the Department of Public Safety; (3) "notification" means either verbal or written notification to the department that a person is lost, injured, killed, or in need of immediate rescue; (4) "search and rescue," "search operation," or "operation" means an authorized action which involves the continuous search for one or more persons who are reported lost, injured, killed, or in need of immediate rescue; an operation which is discontinued for a period in excess of 24 hours may be resumed upon receipt of additional information or reason to resume, which is satisfactory to the commissioner or his designee, and may be considered another operation for purposes of billing and expenditure.
