Section 17.42.065. Firearms and prohibited weapons.

(a) A person may not carry a firearm or prohibited weapon in a department-operated terminal building or restricted area except in compliance with any other applicable law and (1) as authorized by this section; (2) as necessary to fulfill a legal requirement; or (3) as specifically permitted by law. (b) Before boarding an air carrier aircraft, a passenger transporting a firearm shall check the firearm, unloaded and encased in a closed container designed for transporting firearms, as or within luggage and notify the air carrier that the luggage contains a firearm. (c) In this section, (1) "firearm" has the meaning given in AS 11.81.900; and (2) "prohibited weapon" has the meaning given in AS 11.61.200.
