Section 2.92.010. Title and registration: burden of producing evidence of ownership on applicant.

(a) An applicant for title to and registration of a vehicle has the burden of producing evidence of ownership. The department will provide reasonable guidelines to assist an applicant for title and registration whose vehicle is not listed on this state's records system. (b) An applicant with insufficient evidence of ownership under AS 28.10.216 must provide a bond based on a bona fide appraisal which reasonably conforms with nationally recognized used-vehicle valuations. The appraisal must be for a complete, street legal vehicle physically present in this state.
