Section 5.28.589. Permit for miscellaneous groundfish in the South Alaska Peninsula Area.

(a) Except when taken as allowable bycatch in another directed fishery, miscellaneous groundfish may be taken on an experimental basis in the South Alaska Peninsula Area only under the conditions of a permit issued by the commissioner necessary for conservation or management purposes. The permit may (1) specify the depth of fishing gear; (2) specify the fishing season and periods of fishing; (3) specify the area of fishing; (4) establish the allowable size of harvested fish; (5) specify the type and configuration of gear; (6) require the completion of logbooks provided by the department and require that the logbooks be attached to a fish ticket at the time of landing; and (7) require other conditions that the commissioner determines are necessary for conservation or management purposes. (b) For the purpose of this section, "miscellaneous groundfish" are those species of groundfish not specifically addressed in 5 AAC 28.550 - 5 AAC 28.585.
