Section 5.58.035. Methods, means, and general provisions - Shellfish.

  • 	(a)  Unless otherwise specified in 5 AAC 58.022 or by an emergency order issued under AS 16.05.060, the provisions of this section apply to shellfish sport fishing in the Cook Inlet - Resurrection Bay Saltwater Area.  
    	(b)  The bag and possession limits for sport-harvested shellfish are not in addition to those allowed under the subsistence fishing regulations in 5 AAC 01 and 5 AAC 02 or the personal use fishing regulations in 5 AAC 77.  
    	(c)  A person may not mutilate or otherwise disfigure a crab in any manner that would prevent the determination of the minimum size and sex restrictions specified in this chapter. Only whole crab, cooked or uncooked, may be taken off a vessel.  
    	(d)  Notwithstanding 5 AAC 75.035(3), no more than two pots per person, regardless of type, with a maximum of two pots per vessel, regardless of type, may be used to take shellfish at any time, except that in the waters between the longitude of Gore Point (150_ 57.85' W. long.) and the longitude of Cape Fairfield (148_ 50.25' W. long.), no more than two pots per person with a maximum of six pots per vessel may be used to take Tanner crab.  
    	(e)  Each pot, other than shrimp pots, used to take shellfish under this chapter must have a minimum of two escape rings that are at least four and three-eighths inches in inside diameter.  
    	(f)  Shrimp pots are pots with tunnel eye openings that individually are not larger than 15 inches in perimeter.  
    	(g)  A pot used to take shellfish may not have any portion of the line attaching the pot to a buoy or buoys floating on the surface of the water at any time, except for that portion of the line connecting the main buoy to any auxiliary buoy or buoys.
