(a) A person may not direct or order the application of radiation to an individual, except that a practitioner of the healing arts licensed by this state, or a person working under the direction or order of a practitioner of the healing arts licensed by this state, may apply radiation to an individual. Any direction or order to apply, or application of, radiation to an individual must (1) be in the course of the practitioner's professional practice for clinical purposes; and (2) comply with the requirements of this chapter. (b) The application of radiation to an individual for purposes unrelated to the individual's healthcare, such as for training, practicing, demonstrating, or other purpose for which the individual does not receive a health-based clinical benefit, is prohibited. (c) The use of a medical fluoroscope (1) without image intensification for the application of ionizing radiation to an individual is prohibited; (2) for pre-positioning a patient for a non-fluoroscopic study is prohibited. (d) The use of a fluoroscope for shoe fitting purposes, other than by a physician or chiropodist, is prohibited.
