The fee for a laboratory service provided by a department laboratory for (1) clinical testing is 50 percent of the lowest charge estimate determined under the Medicare fee methodology in 42 C.F.R. 405.515, revised as of October 1997 and adopted by reference in this paragraph; and (2) water bacteriology is (A) $15 for a test of non-potable water by means of the most-potable-number (MPN), total coliform, and fecal coliform methods; (B) $10 for a test of potable water by means of the fermentation technique and assayed for total and fecal coliforms; (C) $100 for a test of laboratory pure water as determined by the water suitability testing methods found in Standard Methods for the Examination of Water and Wastewater, 18th Edition, 1992, adopted by reference in this subparagraph; and (3) confirmation of mechanical sterilization is $2 for incubation or interpretation of spore test, or for both.
