Section 2.90.150. Proof of financial responsibility for the future.

In addition to the requirements of AS 28.20, the department will require proof of financial responsibility for the future, as described under AS 28.20.390 - 28.20.420, in the following cases: (1) the driver or owner of a motor vehicle subject to registration in this state involved in a crash resulting in death, injury, or property damage in excess of $501 to the property of any one person, if the department determines that there is a reasonable possibility that the driver or owner would be held liable for damages by a court; (2) a person who, as a result of a conviction or forfeiture of bail for offenses under AS 28.15.181 or AS 28.33.140, has that person's license suspended, revoked, or limited; (3) a person who is convicted or forfeits bail for offenses under AS 28.15.291 or AS 28.33.150; (4) a person who fails to satisfy a judgment arising from a motor vehicle crash that occurred either in or outside this state.
