Section 4.06.825. Graduation and attendance rates.

  • 	(a)  All schools and all school districts in the state shall set a target for a  
    		(1) graduation rate of 90 percent or better, for the school as a whole and for each subgroup with at least five students, if the school enrolls students in grade 12; and  
    		(2) attendance rate of 95 percent or better for the school as a whole and for each subgroup with at least five students enrolled in the school.  
    	(b)  For purposes of this section,  
    		(1) "five-year graduation rate" means a fraction, the denominator of which is a graduation cohort consisting of the sum of the number of students who enrolled in the ninth grade of the high school five years earlier, adjusting for transfers in and out, emigres, and deceased students, and the numerator of which is the number of students in the school who graduate  
    			(A) on or before June 30 of the reporting year;  
    			(B) with a regular high school diploma; and  
    			(C) within five years of first enrolling in a high school;  
    		(2) "four-year graduation rate" means the graduation rate determined under 4 AAC 06.895(i);  
    		(3) "graduation rate" means the  
    			(A) four-year graduation rate; or  
    			(B) five-year graduation rate.  
    	(c)  A school or subgroup that has 10 or fewer students in the four-year graduation cohort as calculated under (b)(2) of this section and 4 AAC 06.895(i)(4) or the five-year graduation cohort as calculated under (b)(1) of this section, and that does not meet the graduation rate under (a) of this section for the current year satisfies the graduation rate requirement of this section if all but one of those students graduates.
