(a) In Registration Area J west of the longitude of Cape Kumlik at 157_ 27' W. long., a person may take hair crab from January 1 through December 31, during fishing periods established by emergency order, and only under the authority of a permit issued by the commissioner under 5 AAC 38.062. (b) In the Bering Sea, Western Aleutians, and Eastern Aleutians Districts, the vessel registration deadline is 21 days before that vessel begins fishing operations. Before a vessel may be registered under this section, the vessel operator must first obtain a valid CFEC interim-use permit for hair crab that references the vessel's ADF&G license number. The registration form must include the vessel's operator's CFEC permit number and must be received in person, or by mail or facsimile, at the department office in Dutch Harbor or Kodiak by the deadline specified in this section.
