(a) The purpose of 7 AAC 26.010 - 7 AAC 26.180 is to promote the health and safety of the people of Alaska by establishing uniform minimum standards for emergency medical technicians, emergency medical technician instructors, mobile intensive care paramedic training courses, and mobile intensive care paramedic course coordinators. (b) Nothing in 7 AAC 26.010 - 7 AAC 26.180 prohibits a physician authorized to practice in this state from authorizing a state-certified EMT to use a medication or procedure in an emergency situation that is not specifically covered by that person's EMT certification.
